The eDigitalVault backup system
eDigitalVault is a remote backup solution that uses an Internet connection (broadband or dial-up) to allow businesses to maintain an offsite backup of their critical data. The system eliminates the costs and risks of on-site tape systems. When a tape is lost being transferred to an off-site location, data is lost and security is breached.
How the eDigitalVault system works:
The user's data is encrypted (transformed into a secret code) and transferred over the Internet to be stored on a data backup server at eDigitalVault's storage location. On the backup server, an account is maintained for each user. Each account is protected by a password known only to the user.
The eDigital electronic backup service is set up so that at a preset time, usually late at night, your computer automatically wakes up and prepares its data for backup. Your computer determines which files have been modified since the last backup, compresses them, and then encrypts them for security.
When the data is ready, your computer uses its Internet connection to contact the eDigitalVault backup server, open a connection, and then transmit the data.
Your data is now secured offsite and available 24 x 7.
